Principal Consultant, Hong Kong

A brief description of your career history

I started my career 7 years ago in a small Singapore recruitment firm called Recruit Express, as recruitment consultant in Technology Recruitment team and stayed there for 2 and half year, then joined Michael Page for recent 4 and half years, worked on both China and Hong Kong market, including 3 years working in Technology recruitment sector.

What makes you ‘now’ in technology?

My Masters degree in engineering caused my interest and also opened the door for me in technology recruitment. With past 5 years’ experience recruiting in technology, I am well trained on how technology can change everyone’s life, and I am amazed. With the technology evolving everyday, my passion to this sector just gets stronger and stronger.

What gets you out of bed on a Monday morning?:

Working on something I really like, and with the team I get along keeps me energetic everyday.

What do you see as the next big game changer within the Digital Media and Technology industry?:

Mobile internet is changing everything at the moment, and next big game changers will be the companies who can use the data intelligently. The technologies will involve facial/voice recognition, big data, data analysis and so  on.

You call yourself a specialist. Why?

I have 5 years working experience in technology recruitment, and placed over 100 people in Technology space in Hong Kong and China market.

What is your greatest achievement?

The biggest achievement for me is that I get to know myself better now. I left Michael Page after 4 and half years to search and finally found an environment which suits the authentic me for further developing my career in the sector which I am passionate about.

What is the best thing about your role?

Speaking with the smartest people, and keeping myself up to the date about the technology trends are pretty awesome to me.

Who sits next to you in the office?

Hong Kong Country Manager - Matthieu Pirouelle

When you were a child, what did you want to be?:

I was full of dreams when I was a child and also I happen to had encouraging parents. And I believed whatever I wanted to be, I could be. So I had a big list what I wanted to be when I was young.

What is your favourite quote?

“Nothing is impossible.” And it has been my favourite quote since I was a child.

If you could invite 5 people to dinner who would they be?

1. Howward Schultz – Starbucks CEO

Great business man with authentic leadership who brings his personality to business and make it super successful.

2. Oprah Winfrey - multi award winner of talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show

Very positive and charming person with legendary story to tell. Her poor background never stopped her to get what she wants. Good role mode for females.

3. Narayana Murthy - Infosys founder

Ambitious and resilient business leader with big dream and strong execution.

4. Wang Wei - SF Express founder

Down to the earth, smartest ever business person I have known in China.

5. Stephen Hawking

Though the conversation may be a bit inconvenient, I admire him for what he has contributed for the world, and mostly importantly for his positivity and courage to break through under awful body condition.
