AAN & Xpand - Melbourne Panelists

27th Apr 2015

Thanks to all who attended the Australasian Architecture Network and Xpand meet-up in Sydney last Thursday evening and thank you to our incredible industry-expert panelists, who did a fantastic job. What a great night it was!

(Some pics from the evening)

This Thursday the 30th of April will see the Melbourne chapter of the event take place, with an array food and nibbles provided to satiate the appetite. It promises to be just as informative and entertaining as the Sydney edition and with only three days to go, now is a the perfect time to introduce you properly to the evening’s exceptional, industry-expert panelists.

Firstly we have Saul Caganoff, CTO of Sixtree.

Saul Caganoff  has over twenty years experience in information technology, building composite applications to support business processes in major enterprises across finance, telecommunications, energy and government. Saul is currently the CTO of Sixtree, a consultancy that helps organizations find value in their existing information assets. Prior to Sixtree, Saul architected SmartGrid systems at Ausgrid, built event-driven systems for large Indian Telcos, lost count of the number of "single customer view" projects he has worked on, wrangled the world's largest geographic information system and scoped out hot plasmas in distant galaxies.

Next we have Shiva Narayanaswamy Solution Architect Amazon Web Services.

Shiva has over 12 years in various roles (from the trenches to the boardrooms) in the IT industry. Bridging the gap between technology and the business, working with stakeholders of all levels to enable design of solutions and strategy that deliver business outcomes, is what makes Shiva get out of bed in the morning. Shiva is passionate about allowing technology to do what it does best, repeatable mundane tasks at speed and scale, thus freeing up people for more creative pursuits that cannot be automated or scaled. At AWS, Shiva is a Solutions Architect enabling partners and customers adopt the AWS platform, to meet their business needs.

Our next panellist is Tom Bernadou Managing Director of Data Solutions Group.

Tom has over 14 years of experience working for Systems Integrators, he’s been fortunate enough to work with a variety of organisations across commercial, health, education and public sectors.

He’s worked in a range of roles over his time in the industry, starting as a junior tech, working up to a lead infrastructure consultant, and Solutions Architect.

He’s specialised in working with technologies that support the most critical applications. Including designing and deploying data centre compute, network and storage. Delivering information to users with application and desktop virtualisation, and using Cloud services to build agile and highly available web applications.

In the last two years he’s switched tracks, and drawn upon his technical knowledge to assist with IT Strategic Planning, systems architecture and acquisition.

Today he is the Managing Director of Data Solutions Group, and works with a team of talented consultants, challenging the traditional approach to IT infrastructure.

Our fourth panellist is Dan Kregor Microsoft Cloud and Datacenter Management MVP, Senior System Center Consultant and owner of the Inside Podcast Network (

Dan is a Microsoft MVP in System Center Cloud and Datacenter Management and an expert in the System Center suite of products, with a primary interest in the emerging public and private cloud infrastructure capabilities of System Center 2012. Additionally he has a keen interest in the automation of datacentre processes through the utilisation of System Center Orchestrator.

He’s the host and founder of the Inside Podcast Network - Designed to provide relevant and informative information about enterprise IT, with a focus on the System Center suite of products, the podcast aims to assist organisations with maximizing their System Center investment through sound advice and expertise from MVP’s and experts who bring a wealth of knowledge and a combined experience that is unparalleled.

He has extensive experience in the architecture and implementation and has done so for some of the worlds largest organisations

For our final panellist, we are fortunate enough to again have Nicholas Bellamy, the General Manager for OCTO Innovation & Advisory Services for Asia-Pacific & Japan, after his successful turn as a panellist for the Sydney event last week.

Nicholas is responsible for driving effective coverage and consistency of Innovation Agenda engagements across APJ clients and prospects, delivering structured, purposeful, measurable and valued outcomes.

One of Nicholas’ overarching principles within the Office of the CTO is that innovation is in all our DNA, and it’s a critical element in achieving our growth plans, maintaining and building client value and loyalty, as well as positively contributing to our HP culture. A focused and coordinated approach is essential for improving the effectiveness, efficiency and consistency in delivering innovation to and with our clients, creating that genuine culture of innovation, and bringing together the complex ecosystem of stakeholders and contributors (HP Labs, Practices, HP GBU’s, Partners, and our people).

Nicholas has been with HP for the past seven years in different industry related practice roles, from CM&E to Government. In the last two years, he lead the South Pacific ES ECS/Helion team; bringing together cloud activities, growth and strategy, using a breadth of HP experience and innovative flair in order to optimise new business opportunities for clients within our New Style of IT.

Nicholas is an avid snow skier and has a thirst for adventure.

So with many decades of relevant industry success and experience between these expert panellists, the Melbourne chapter of the Australasian Architecture Network & Xpand Meetup will be invaluable for all architects, whether that be from a business or technical perspective.
