AAN & X:ED Present: Attracting, Retaining and Getting the Best from Your Architects feat. Tom Graves in Melbourne

14th Oct 2015

Xpand X:ED and the Australasian Architecture Network have consistently brought you events focused heavily on educating talented people across a variety of technologies, new ideas and technical areas. This time we have decided to bring you a series of meet-ups centred squarely on the talent themselves and in particular the architects.

The first of these meet-ups will be held in Melbourne on Thursday the 15th of October at 6pm “The Deck”-Waterside hotel where our incredible industry expert panel will be giving you insight into how to find the best and brightest architecture talent, and how you can utilise this talent to properly benefit your business. We will also look into the age old debate which always exists within this field between art and science, the creative vs. the coder. What types of projects require what types of people and how do you get the best results from such a diverse range of individuals.

We are also incredibly fortunate to have a 30 minute presentation by author and thought leader in enterprise architecture, Tom Graves, who is currently in town as a keynote speaker at this year’s Australasian Architecture Conference. Tom will be giving us a taste of his upcoming master class series, in which he promises to bring some humanity to the world of enterprise design, with work shops to be held in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. For more information on how you can attend these unmissable work shops please click here.

A lucky door prize sponsored by Branded Live and the complete set of works by the phenomal Tom Graves will be awarded to two fortunate attendees and all you have to do to be in the running is be there!

Tom Graves presentation will be followed by our panel, comprised of three exceptional minds- the first of which is Matthew Watson APAC Practice Director at Salesforce;

As the APAC Practice Director at cloud computing company Salesforce, Matthew is focusing currently on the most complex and innovative customer service (Service Cloud) implementations for enterprise customers in the region. With over 15 years architectural expertise in industries including Financial Services, Education, Manufacturing and Public Sector, Matthew has worked as an architect both inside large enterprises as an employee (KPMG, Toyota) and in consulting engagements at BMC Software and now Salesforce.

With a focus on pragmatism over idealism, and challenging traditional IT conventions, Matthew has a proven track record in delivering innovative, integrated solutions with passion and commitment.

Our second panellist of the evening we have Rowan Stevens, Chief Architect of Secure Pay;

Not only is Rowan Chief Architect of SecurePay, but is also Director of the Cave Divers Association of Australia and cave diving adventure junkie. He’s been architecting elegant technology solutions to business needs for 25 years and along the journey has picked up a tip or two about managing technical teams and a few battle scars to prove it. What makes the ideal architect and how do you retain them?  That’s definitely THE question …

Our last panellist for the evening is Helen Davis, Business Solutions Engineer at Oracle;

Helen is an experienced business professional operating across a number of industry sectors including  Defence, National Security, Government, Retail and Finance.  As an Enterprise Architect and qualified Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience, Helen has worked to assist customers to deliver the critical mapping of business process to ICT technology and architecture.  Her work has allowed customers to achieve business value through process enhancement and the implementation of new industry practices and solutions.

Currently at Oracle where she is a Director in the Enterprise Architecture team, Helen works on many large and complex projects, focusing particularly on leveraging the benefits of cloud and big data solutions for her customers.
