What are your digital priorities for the year ahead?

As e-commerce and m-commerce trends are continuing their unstoppable ascent, with all the changes they imply in terms of advertising approach, the main priority will be to integrate fully all the ecommerce capabilities in the marketing mix of the FMCG and retails brands I work with.

Which brands or businesses are using digital / technology to its full potential and how?

The tech industry (software companies for ex) has always stood out for me as being as the forefront of the marketing innovations and new consumer approaches, grasping and using fully the new possibilities given by technology.
This being said, we are seeing interesting things happening as well on the retail side, which is evolving very quickly – the connected stores being a prime example of it.

What emerging technologies or trends should people be aware of?

Obviously there are many, but mobile remains the one trend that no one should avoid, and now put in the center of most strategies – especially in APAC! Watch out as well for cross-technologies, which are changing the way we work(cross- databases, platforms, etc)

How are people’s roles and positions in companies changing with the emergence of digital and technology?

For the retail industry, with the increase of ecommerce and profound changes of the retail stores, this is all the organization charts that evolve. Digital and technology should be part of all employees’ skills, as well as used to develop their skills in general.

What’s the best piece of innovation you have seen in recent time and why?

Artificial Intelligence never ceases to amaze me. An American laboratory specialized in AI asked a riddle – a famous test of logic and self-awareness- to three humanoid robots. Their reaction proved the ability of AI to be self-aware. The infinite possibilities it shows are mind-blowing.

Closer to us, I am a big fan of the new Google app, which customizes your search page based on your interests.

How has employee engagement changed in recent times and how do you ensure that you have the highest levels among your employees?

As employee engagement is a growing issue throughout industries, I believe it asks for more and more transparency internally (on all matters, from salaries to all decisions taken!). The management has great responsibilities in keeping its employees engaged, and a key of that is to work on maintaining a positive and fun atmosphere at work.

What is your favourite local food?

The local dosas – the small booth below my apartment has been doing wonders for me!

Where is your favourite place to travel?

I am an unconditional fan of Indonesia, for all the landscapes and wonders it has to show. My next trip will be to Raja Ampat, whose beaches are breath-taking.
