On 16th of March 2016, Xpand KL and Women Who Code KL have partnered up to bring you a fun-filled meetup event! We have invited top-notch speakers from diverse backgrounds to share their knowledge and experiences in Big Data. Profiles of the speakers are below;
Iriani Kemaluddin,Â Founder, A-LISTLIFE, Former Marketing Director at SASÂ
Iriani has 13 years of management & marketing experience within the Big Data Analytics, Telecommunications and Consulting industries.
She has worked in regional and global marketing positions with telecommunications giant Ericsson where she developed strategies to help mobile operators monetize their 3G and 4G investments. Â
As the Marketing Director at SAS, the global leader in Big Data Analytics, her data-driven marketing strategies, consistently contributed more than 25% of revenues over 4 years. In 2014, she was nominated for a Marketing Excellence Award in Data-Driven Marketing by Advertising + Marketing magazine.
Iriani was on the Big Data Analytics Board chaired by MDeC and was responsible for setting up the Big Data Analytics Centre of Excellence, a collaboration between SAS and MDeC to support high-impact Big Data Analytics proofs-of-concepts in Malaysia. Â Â
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Melbourne.
Lakshmi Nagarajan (via video session),Â Big Data Analytics Manager, HP LabsÂ
Lakshmi heads the Big Data Analytics Team at HP Labs Singapore. She works her team of talented engineers and data scientists to deliver state-of-the-art big data analytics solutions to HP Enterprise customers. Lakshmi has a Masterâs Degree in Statistics and has been in the working in the technology industry for 14 years. She spent several years working in the US, before moving to Singapore a few years back.
Lakshmi is a woman of STEM and is proud to be one.
Nuhaa All Bakry,Â Senior Developer, Experian Marketing Services, Instructor, Data Science Primer Course, MaGIC
Graduated with Applied Maths in 2004, her getting into software engineering was all by (good) luck, but it quickly turned into a well loved job. She is currently a senior developer at Experian Marketing Services where her primary work involves a hell lot of ETL services. Her recent work involves the automation of website categorization. Previously she has worked with SYABAS, Brunei's Department of Religious Affairs, Motortakaful.com, Etiqa and Malaysia's Open Source Competency Centre. She's friends with PHP, Python, Alteryx, Talend and Tableau to name a few. She owns a feisty cat.
Peter Kua,Â Head of Big Data Analytics Innovation, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)Â
Peter Kua has vast experience in web-based businesses and technologies. He is also a technopreneur and has invested in start-ups. Before joining MDeC, Peter worked in a management consultancy company specializing in managing behavioral changes and conformance in organizations. There, he set up and headed an R&D team to work on an oil palm management system with predictive analytics capabilities. Peter is currently responsible for driving the National Big Data & Analytics initiative, encouraging organizations to harness the power of analytics and continue being data-driven to remain competitive.
