What’s your current role ‘Cilla?
I am the MD of Xpand and Rubicor Professional, so essentially I oversee the running of 6 businesses which includes; Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Singapore and Managed Solutions for Xpand within the Digital & IT sectors + Rubicor Professional which covers Banking & Financial Services and Business Support.
And what does that involve?
My role at Xpand its very operationally focused at the moment, but we are on the verge of a new chapter which should see me more hands on with the team.
Our Solution business offers bespoke managed recruitment services, offering tailored Recruiter on Demand to larger RPOs.
Professional does both temp and perm hiring across a wide range of industries, the majority of clients being large corporates in the Financial Services and Tech space.
Which industry or sector does your experience mostly lie?
I started in traditional IT recruitment and one of my first desks was C++. Since then I’ve done a lot of Telco and in more recent years played in Digital.
As a leader and a mother, what’s your biggest challenge?
Balancing my life, my time management and not feeling guilty for not having enough time for my family and everybody else!
What do you enjoy the most about your role?
The variety. The fact that after so many years in the industry I’m still challenged and no two days are ever the same!
What are you passionate about?
Lots of things. My family, my work and surrounding myself with good humans, making sure we do good in the world and make a contribution + I love my running.
Tell me something funny about your career?
It’s a hard one as there have been loads of fun times…my years at Greythorn London were some of the best of my career!
When you were growing-up, what did you want to be?
A Nun, because my first School Principal was one and I thought she was so kind; later, I wanted to be a Lawyer! I then found an interest in Psychology, so I studied my Masters on the subject.
If you could be anywhere else in world, where would you be and why?
I’m pretty happy where I live right now in sunny Sydney…down south near the Royal National Park – God’s country!
Tell me a goal (professional or personal) you want to achieve next year?
My work goal is to do more charity and volunteer work. Personally, I’m debating whether to run another marathon, let’s just see how I feel about that one next year!
