Practice Manager - Visual Design

A rare opportunity has come up for an excellent people leader to join a large financial institution in Melbourne. This role will suit someone with a passion for the customer and a deep understanding of visual design. Part of the Experience Design practice, you will have between 15 and 20 direct reports, all creative designers.

This is not a hands on role, and will instead focus on people leadership, providing performance feedback and career development. You will be responsible for recruitment and resourcing, as well as shaping the design practice as a whole.

Main responsibilities:
  • Leading a large team, coaching and mentoring
  • Defining design standards
  • Building capability of the design team and the broader organisation
  • Resourcing and recruiting new Experience Designers
  • Creating a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Sharing and communicating the vison and strategic direction of the overall design practice
  • Leading the change and contributing to the digital transformation and customer-centric culture
  • Proactively managing risk - escalating events, issues or breaches as they are identified
