This is a unique opportunity to work on a new project to rebuild a core application for an online bank in Melbourne's CBD. 
As a senior API and services developer, as part of the Digital Team, you will work closely with Product Managers, Solution Designers, Business Analysts, QA Analyst and Scrum Masters to create great banking services for their digital platform.

What you will be doing:
  • Speak strongly about your ideas and be wise enough to reshape ideas when the situation presents.
  • Own the code and take every opportunity to make it simpler, smarter, faster.
  • Ask the right questions to keep things moving forward
  • Spot potential design/coding gaps and risks (and assess their impact)
  • Deliver solutions across a range of technologies and platforms - yes, you'll have some web interaction as well as getting dirty with iOS coders
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with different areas of the business – from stakeholders and Product Owners to Technical Services and Asset Specialists
  • Keep records via JIRA and GitHub, and other documenting systems as need be
  • Make significant design decisions – and recognize when changes need to be made.
  • Ability to socialise and get acceptance on suggested solutions and bold enough to question the existing approach if you see a better way to do things
What you will need:
  • 10+ years experience as a software engineer, fluent with Javascript
  • 3+ years hands-on Enterprise NodeJS development experience
  • Broad knowledge of modern microservices patterns in a cloud native context
  • Experience in the financial industry and Knowledge of banking platforms and products (preferred but not essential)
  • 5+ years of technology strategy experience (if you’re not sure what this means, ask us!)
  • Strong analytical and decision making abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise
  • Good presentation and influencing skills
  • In depth understanding of Agile, specifically Scrum concepts
  • Ability to listen to and understand feedback from all stakeholders and use this feedback to drive the changes required to the requirements and priorities
  • Adapts efficiently to changing circumstances and seeks alternative ways of achieving project objectives
