Senior Manager / Director of Mechanical Engineering

Key Responsibilities
Design release validation and New Product Introduction and manage the manufacturing engineering team
● Lead and oversee managers on New Product Introduction, including the design release validation, Stage Gate Control, costing, product launch, etc.
● Drive and own the manufacturing operations elements of overall Project Management, including managing project timeline, project / product costs, critical tasks and resources
Lean manufacturing, including continuous improvement and root cause analysis/ resolution
● Lead managers and recommend solutions to resolve problems on critical processes, including to Identify, recommend and implement changes necessary to improve productivity and reduce cost, scrap, and rework
● Lead and coordinate managers on development of Mechanical Design in collaboration with Design and Factory team for Product Innovation, Material Selection, and Producibility Manufacturing process and infrastructure readiness
● Ensure the smooth transition from ramp up to stable production
● Lead and coach a sizeable, experienced team of technical specialists to establish, implement and maintain excellent production standards and Manufacture Process Optimization / Improvement on critical processes,
targeting Lean Manufacturing
● Strategically manage relationships with contract manufacturers and other suppliers, to enhance project development, quality achievement and manufacturing efficiency
● Act as liaison with other departments/functions, as well as executive levels, to inform the team of relevant communications, decisions, policies
● Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
● Oversee development of Manufacturing Engineering personnel, including training and development, evaluations, hiring and providing recommendations for personnel adjustments where appropriate

Key skills required
● A Degree holder in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or related fields
● 7+ years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering of high-tech or consumer electronics
● At least 5 years management experience
● Solid track record of successfully leading teams to achieve manufacturing engineering excellence – including DFM execution, root cause analysis and resolution, manufacturing process and infrastructure readiness, project
management and cost management
● Ability to coach, guide, and train Manufacturing Process Engineers & Managers in all relevant disciplines
● Strong stakeholder management skills and able to interact with cross-functional / inter-organization teams
● Hands-on experience working with contract manufacturers in China or SEA region
● Excellent communication & negotiation skills in English & Cantonese, plus Mandarin as a big advantage
● Competency in MS Office applications, and Pro-E or Solidworks as a plus
● Able to travel within and outside Asia
